About Us
Welcome to the Consumer & Commercial Law Section of the State Bar of Texas
Mission Statement
The purpose of this section shall be to promote the objectives of the State Bar of Texas within the particular field designated by the name of the section, and to that end to create a better understanding and cooperation among those attorneys engaged in the practice of consumer and commercial law.
MESSAGE FROM THE COUNCIL
The past year has brought rapid transformation to both our legal practice and the broader landscape in which our clients operate. As artificial intelligence begins reshaping industries, and as new privacy legislation surfaces across jurisdictions, our role as consumer and commercial law attorneys has become more critical—and more complex—than ever.
Our section continues to serve as a community for lawyers navigating these changes. We’re excited to host another Advanced Consumer and Commercial Law course in Austin this September, where attendees engaged in timely discussions around technology, compliance, and innovation. The energy from the State Bar Annual Meeting also reminded us of the strength of shared learning and collaboration.
These fast-moving developments—alongside an ever-shifting administrative and regulatory environment—require adaptability, insight, and continued legal education. Our section remains a vital space where attorneys from all sides of the docket gather to learn from each other and respond effectively to new challenges.
We also remain committed to serving the public and honoring promising new voices in our field through the Craig Jordan writing contest. Our quarterly Journal continues to offer deep dives into consumer and commercial law issues, featuring thought leadership from practitioners shaping the field. We invite you to explore our website, where you’ll find updates on section events, practical tools, and fresh insights to help guide your practice in these transformative times.
As we look to the future, this section remains dedicated to empowering attorneys across Texas with the resources, expertise, and community needed to thrive—no matter which side of the docket they represent.
